Thompson Drop Technique
Chiropractic technique using a table with movable sections that drop slightly during adjustment, reducing required force and increasing specificity of vertebral corrections.
Presentation
The Thompson technique was developed in the 1950s by J. Clay Thompson, D.C. It uses a special examination table with drop sections: each section (cervical, thoracic, lumbar, pelvic) is slightly elevated and releases during adjustment, dropping a few centimeters under the practitioner's push. This mechanical assistance amplifies the impulse and allows adjustment with less manual force while maintaining specificity.
