Sports massage is a set of techniques specially adapted to the needs of athletes, amateur or professional. It has evolved alongside sports medicine in the 20th century, drawing techniques from Swedish massage, deep tissue and mobilizations. Sports massage is applied differently before competition (preparatory), during events (maintenance) or after (recovery).

  • Preparation for intense physical effort
  • Post-competition recovery
  • Contractures and muscle soreness
  • Prevention of tendinopathies and muscle tears
  • Subacute muscle injury treatment
  • Proprioception and performance improvement

Contraindications

  • Acute injuries (< 48-72h)
  • Non-consolidated fractures
  • Phlebitis or thrombosis
  • Infected or acute inflammatory areas
