Health Kinesiology (HK)
Bioenergetic kinesiology system created by Jimmy Scott, PhD (1978), that identifies and corrects energy disturbances using a unique 'permission' system where the body directs the entire session through muscle testing.
Presentation
Health Kinesiology (HK) is a bioenergetic kinesiology system developed in 1978 by Jimmy Scott, PhD in physiological psychology and biochemistry, in Canada. This innovative approach rests on a fundamental principle: the body possesses an innate intelligence capable of precisely identifying what it needs to restore balance, and in what order corrections should be performed. The HK practitioner never decides on the treatment — they position themselves as a facilitator who 'listens' to the client's body through muscle testing.
Jimmy Scott integrated knowledge from traditional Chinese medicine, psychology, biochemistry, and quantum physics into his system. HK distinguishes itself from other kinesiology approaches through its systematic use of a 'permission' protocol: before each intervention, the practitioner asks the body whether it is appropriate to work on a given subject, whether the timing is right, and which specific correction is required.

Fundamental Principles
The 'permission' system is the cornerstone of Health Kinesiology. Unlike approaches where the practitioner evaluates the patient and decides the course of action, in HK every step of the process is validated by the body itself via muscle testing. The practitioner asks precise verbal questions — 'Is it appropriate to work on this subject now?', 'What correction is the priority?' — and the body responds through muscle locking or unlocking.
HK identifies disturbances in the body's energy system across several categories: energetic disturbances including acupuncture meridian imbalances, blockages in Qi circulation, and energetic polarity reversals; psychological disturbances involving limiting emotional patterns, unconscious beliefs, and unresolved traumas affecting energy flow; and environmental disturbances encompassing electromagnetic stress, geopathic stress, and chemical sensitivities.
Correction in HK involves holding specific acupuncture points in precise sequences, determined by muscle testing, while the client mentally focuses on the identified stressor. This combination of physical stimulation and mental focus allows the body's energetic response to the stressor to be reprogrammed.

- Sleep disorders — rebalancing meridians involved in sleep-wake cycles
- Unexplained chronic pain — investigation of energetic and emotional pain components
Session Process
An HK session begins with a brief discussion where the client expresses their concerns, but the practitioner does not rely solely on this information to guide the work. They begin by establishing a connection with the client's energy system via muscle testing, typically testing the anterior deltoid muscle of the arm.
The practitioner then engages the permission protocol: asking the body if it is ready to work, which area is the priority, and what category of correction is needed. This methodical questioning phase may reveal surprising priorities, sometimes with no apparent connection to the client's initial complaint.
Once the priority is identified, the practitioner uses muscle testing to determine the exact sequence of acupuncture points to hold. The client may be asked to think about a specific food, situation, emotion, or place while the practitioner holds the points. The holding duration for each point is also determined by muscle testing — the body indicates when the correction is complete.
Several corrections may be performed during a single session. The practitioner systematically checks after each correction whether further interventions are needed or whether the body needs time to integrate the changes.
Variations and Sub-techniques
- Allergy and sensitivity correction — specific protocol for identifying and neutralizing inappropriate energetic responses to substances
- Psychological correction — work on emotional patterns, limiting beliefs, and traumas using specific acupuncture points combined with verbalization
- Electromagnetic correction — rebalancing body tolerance to artificial electromagnetic fields
- Geopathic correction — harmonizing disturbances related to the geological environment
- Nutritional correction — identifying specific nutritional needs and energy deficiencies related to diet
- Subtle energy work — corrections on subtle energy bodies and chakras as indicated by muscle testing priorities
Contraindications
- Medical emergencies requiring immediate medical intervention
- Severe unstabilized psychiatric conditions (psychosis, delusional states)
- Client refusal to actively participate in the process
- Intoxication or influence of consciousness-altering substances
- High fever or acute ongoing infection
- HK never substitutes medical treatment — it acts in complementarity
