Presentation

Prakriti (from Sanskrit 'pra' = first, original, and 'kriti' = creation, form) designates the fundamental, innate and immutable constitution of each individual in Ayurvedic medicine. Established at conception, it is determined by the relative proportion of the three doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha). Prakriti never changes throughout life — it constitutes the individual's energetic 'source code.'

The Seven Constitutional Types

  • Vata dominant: Thin, dry, cold body. Creative, quick but unstable mind. Irregular digestion
  • Pitta dominant: Medium, warm, muscular body. Sharp, organized, ambitious mind. Strong digestion
  • Kapha dominant: Large, heavy, well-lubricated body. Calm, patient, loyal mind. Slow digestion
  • Dual-dosha types: Vata-Pitta, Pitta-Kapha, Vata-Kapha
  • Tridoshic (Sama Prakriti): Rare balance of all three doshas

Applications

  • Diet personalization
  • Adapted medicinal herb selection
  • Daily routine adaptation
  • Disease prevention
  • Panchakarma protocol optimization
