Vikriti (Current Imbalance)
Assessment of the patient's current doshic imbalance relative to their birth constitution (Prakriti), forming the basis of Ayurvedic diagnosis and therapeutic prescription.
Presentation
Vikriti (from Sanskrit 'vi' = alteration, and 'kriti' = creation) designates the current state of dosha imbalance, the deviation from the innate constitution (Prakriti). While Prakriti is fixed and immutable, Vikriti is dynamic and constantly changes under the influence of diet, lifestyle, seasons, age, stress and environment.
Assessment Principles
Vikriti evaluation relies on the classic eight-point examination (Ashtavidha Pariksha):
- Nadi (pulse)
- Mutra (urine)
- Mala (stool)
- Jihva (tongue)
- Shabda (voice)
- Sparsha (touch/skin)
- Drik (eyes)
- Akriti (general appearance)
Applications
- Early imbalance identification
- Panchakarma treatment personalization
- Diet and lifestyle adaptation
- Treatment efficacy monitoring
