Toggle Recoil — Palmer Chiropractic Technique

Presentation

Toggle Recoil is a historical chiropractic technique developed by Bartlett Joshua Palmer (B.J. Palmer, 1881–1961), son of Daniel David Palmer, founder of chiropractic. B.J. Palmer led the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport (Iowa) for decades and was the leading promoter of chiropractic internationally.

Toggle Recoil is the reference technique of Straight Chiropractic philosophy (pure chiropractic focused solely on correcting vertebral subluxations). B.J. Palmer posited that atlas (C1) subluxation was the primary cause of most diseases through nerve interference, a concept he called Hole in One (HIO).
