AcroYoga
AcroYoga combines yoga, acrobatics and Thai massage into a unique relational practice. Practiced in pairs or trios, it develops trust, body communication and balance through supported acrobatic figures.
Overview
AcroYoga, cofounded by Jason Nemer and Jenny Sauer-Klein in California (2006), fuses yoga, acrobatics, and Thai massage. Practiced in pairs: a "base" (lying, supporting with feet/hands), a "flyer" (balancing on top), and a "spotter" (safety observer). It has two branches: solar (acrobatic, dynamic) and lunar (therapeutic Thai massage in the air).
Core Principles
- 3 roles: Base (stability), Flyer (lightness, core), Spotter (safety)
- Constant communication: verbal cues and body listening
- Trust and surrender: physical trust transfers to relationships
- Bone stacking: structural support through aligned bones
