Vamana (therapeutic emesis) is the first of the five Panchakarma purification procedures (Shodhana), specifically designed to eliminate excess Kapha dosha accumulated in the respiratory tract and upper gastrointestinal tract.
Core Principles
- Purvakarma (preparation): Snehana (internal oleation) + Swedana (sudation)
- Pradhana Karma (main procedure): Emetic preparation ingestion, 4 to 8 controlled vomiting episodes
- Paschat Karma (post-treatment): Samsarjana Krama (progressive diet reintroduction)

- Children under 12, adults over 70
