NUCCA and Atlas Orthogonal — Upper Cervical Techniques
Ultra-specific chiropractic approaches exclusively targeting the first cervical vertebra (atlas C1) to correct misalignments affecting the entire spine and central nervous system.
Presentation
NUCCA (National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association) was developed by Ralph Gregory and John F. Grostic in the 1940s–1960s. It relies on precise 3D radiographic analysis of the atlas (C1) to calculate an ultra-precise correction vector. The adjustment is performed with very light manual pressure behind the ear, without an audible thrust.
Atlas Orthogonal is an instrumental variant developed by Roy Sweat in the 1970s, using a sonic percussion instrument to correct the atlas with minimal force.
