Bobath Method (NDT — Neurodevelopmental Treatment)
Neurological rehabilitation approach developed by Karel and Berta Bobath, focused on normalizing tone and movement patterns in patients with central nervous system lesions.
Presentation
The Bobath method (also called NDT — Neurodevelopmental Treatment) was developed in the 1940s–1960s by Berta Bobath, a British physiotherapist, and her husband Karel Bobath, a neurologist. It is the global reference method for rehabilitating adults and children with movement disorders of central neurological origin (stroke, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury). The method has evolved since the 1990s to incorporate advances in neuroscience (neuroplasticity).
