Yi Jin Jing (Tendon-Muscle Changing Classic)
Yi Jin Jing is a muscle-tendon strengthening Qi Gong attributed to monk Bodhidharma, combining deep stretching, breathing and isometric contraction to transform tendons and strengthen body structure.
Presentation
Yi Jin Jing (易筋经, 'Tendon-Muscle Changing Classic') is a Qi Gong system legendarily attributed to Bodhidharma (Damo) at the Shaolin Temple. The 12 traditional exercises use static postures with isometric contraction, deep myofascial chain stretching and specific breathing to strengthen and transform connective tissues.
Core Principles
- Tendon transformation: strengthens and increases flexibility of tendons, ligaments and fascia.
- Isometric contraction: controlled muscular tension without movement.
- Myofascial chain stretching: postures stretch major muscle chains and tendinomuscular meridians.
- Reverse breathing: advanced technique compressing and massaging internal organs.
Main Indications
- Muscle-tendon weakness, ligamentous hypermobility
- Chronic joint and muscle stiffness
- Chronic low back pain
- Recurrent tendinopathies
- Post-injury muscle recovery
- Musculoskeletal aging prevention
