ART — Active Release Technique
Patented soft tissue treatment technique developed by P. Michael Leahy, combining precise pressure on restriction zones with active patient movement to release myofascial adhesions.
Presentation
Active Release Technique (ART) was developed and patented by P. Michael Leahy, D.C., CCSP, in the 1990s. A former military pilot, Leahy developed this approach to treat high-level sports injuries. ART is a soft tissue treatment system combining precise manual pressure with active patient movement. It has over 500 specific protocols for each anatomical region and tissue type (muscle, tendon, ligament, fascia, nerves).
