Mézières Method & RPG (Global Postural Reeducation)

Presentation

Mézières Method: Françoise Mézières (1909–1991), a French physiotherapist, revolutionized postural rehabilitation in 1947 with her discovery that the posterior muscles (from neck to feet) form a single hypertonic muscle chain responsible for most postural deformations and pains. Her method uses maintained global stretching postures where the patient must release compensations.

RPG: Philippe Souchard, a student of Mézières, developed Global Postural Reeducation (RPG) in the 1980s, formalizing 8 working postures in 3 planes and integrating the causal dimension and individualized treatment.
