Still Technique (Dynamic Neutral Technique)
Functional osteopathic technique rediscovered by Richard Van Buskirk combining direct and indirect approaches using compressive or distractive force to guide tissue toward dynamic neutral.
Presentation
The Still Technique (ST) is considered one of Andrew Taylor Still's original techniques, rediscovered and codified by Richard Van Buskirk, D.O. in the 1990s. It is distinguished by its sequential approach: the practitioner starts indirect (toward the dysfunction) then transitions to direct without ever producing a thrust. The somatic dysfunction resolves in the dynamic neutral position found during movement.
Codifier: Richard Van Buskirk, D.O. (1990s), based on A.T. Still's writings
