Presentation

Chen style Tai Chi is the original Tai Chi Chuan style, developed in the 17th century by Chen Wangting (1580–1660). It is characterized by silk-reeling force (Chan Si Jin), explosive releases (Fa Jin), low stances and powerful rooting. Two main forms: Lao Jia (old frame, 75 movements) and Xin Jia (new frame).

Core Principles

  • Chan Si Jin (silk-reeling force): spiral movements from Dan Tian developing tendon and fascial elasticity.
  • Fa Jin (explosive release): power emission from total relaxation, body functions like a whip.
  • Slow/fast alternation: varying rhythm and intensity unlike uniformly slow Yang style.
  • Low stances: strengthening legs and improving rooting.

  • Coordination and proprioception improvement
  • Cardiovascular health
  • Stress management
