Sports massage is a specialized therapeutic massage form adapted to athletes' needs. It differs from relaxation massage in intensity, depth and functional objectives. Practiced before, after or between competitions, it is integral to elite athlete care across nearly all sports.

- Deep effleurage: firm strokes following venous return
