Presentation

Deep tissue massage is a therapeutic technique using deep pressures and slow movements to target deep muscles, fascia and connective tissue structures. It evolved as an adaptation of Swedish massage to treat chronic pain and sports injuries.

Main Indications

  • Chronic deep low back pain
  • Neck pain with deep contractures
  • Chronic myofascial syndrome
  • Sports injury sequelae
  • Post-surgical stiffness
  • Sciatica with piriformis contracture

Contraindications

  • Phlebitis or deep vein thrombosis
  • Infected or tumor areas
  • Recent fractures
  • Significant coagulation disorders
  • Severe osteoporosis
