Visual Art Therapy
A psychotherapy using visual art creation (painting, drawing, modeling, collage) as therapeutic mediation to express and transform psychic conflicts beyond words.
Presentation
Visual art therapy uses artistic visual media — painting, drawing, modeling, collage, photography — as therapeutic mediation tools. No artistic talent is required: the creative process, not aesthetic quality, is therapeutic.
Core Principles
Creative mediation: the created object serves as a 'third' between patient and therapist. Symbolization: forms, colors, textures are symbols of internal experience. Transformation: creation itself models psychic transformation.
